Penn Optical Coatings understands the physics behind the science and combines precision engineering with optical expertise to develop, manufacture, and deliver thin film coatings with optimal performance. We developed our library of over 7,500 standard and custom optical coatings using our custom-built chambers and coating formulas. Our coatings process combines fundamental thin film physics, expert knowledge of dielectric material properties, and modern deposition technologies. Custom Optical Coatings

Optical performance is determined by your application’s requirements. This sometimes results in the need for custom thin film optical coatings. Penn Optical Coatings has the experience and process knowledge to engineer and manufacture a broad range of specialty coatings. Formulas for Success

Optical design software packages like OptiLayer and TF Calc are quite sophisticated, offering multiple optimization routines and production troubleshooting features. Using them requires a depth of experience in the physics behind the formula and hands-on knowledge of design for manufacturability. Determining the right process to achieve consistent quality and throughput is a significant factor in product cost and performance.

Spectral Capabilities
